No Thanks, I prefer to hold my books

I know technology is suppose to be a good thing, and I’m all for it when it comes to music and communicating, but the one thing I don’t like is this new found “online booking”. I do not agree with what Google is doing with all these books. I understand that yes, it is convenient, and yes, you probably could find the book you’re looking for in a matter of seconds, but its taking away from the “specialness” of actually going out on a search for book and feeling that good feeling when you finally find it.

I love to read. For school, for work, and for fun. It helps me get away from my chaotic life at times and helps me get lost in a different world and lets me experience a different situation for hours at end, and that is something I truly cherish about reading. If all my books were to be scanned on the internet, it just wouldn’t be the same as holding them. I could have my book open on Google, but like it always happens, I would probably get distracted and start playing on Facebook and forget all about what I was reading. It just simply wouldn’t be the same. That’s the big reason why I don’t support Google in this. Reading a book is just one thing I don’t need Google help with. Plus, you can’t curl up with a laptop like you can with a good book :)

  3. I see you feel strongly over all the commotion about what google is doing with digitizing books. I agree, they are infringing on the authors copyrights. I bet if i tried to do something like this i would end up getting sued. But on the other hand this would make peoples lives soo much easier and it would greatly help out the community, especially students.
