I know technology is suppose to be a good thing, and I’m all for it when it comes to music and communicating, but the one thing I don’t like is this new found “online booking”. I do not agree with what Google is doing with all these books. I understand that yes, it is convenient, and yes, you probably could find the book you’re looking for in a matter of seconds, but its taking away from the “specialness” of actually going out on a search for book and feeling that good feeling when you finally find it.
I love to read. For school, for work, and for fun. It helps me get away from my chaotic life at times and helps me get lost in a different world and lets me experience a different situation for hours at end, and that is something I truly cherish about reading. If all my books were to be scanned on the internet, it just wouldn’t be the same as holding them. I could have my book open on Google, but like it always happens, I would probably get distracted and start playing on Facebook and forget all about what I was reading. It just simply wouldn’t be the same. That’s the big reason why I don’t support Google in this. Reading a book is just one thing I don’t need Google help with. Plus, you can’t curl up with a laptop like you can with a good book :)

ReplyDeleteLol, Your so cute.
Everything you said is true, but from my point of veiw it is gonna help alot of people Ex: Other countries, the people who live in foreign countries couldn't find book same as here or other countries books here. So it make a lot of different. I think google is trying go world wide which will help everyone. anyways great reflection paper and very strong points.
ReplyDeleteI see you feel strongly over all the commotion about what google is doing with digitizing books. I agree, they are infringing on the authors copyrights. I bet if i tried to do something like this i would end up getting sued. But on the other hand this would make peoples lives soo much easier and it would greatly help out the community, especially students.
